Incorporeal Romance Revival Center
Date the dead. Exploring science fiction concepts such as reanimation, power and control and automony through a tamagotchi style interface.
“Find the love of your life, even if theirs is over.”
About
This is a project I designed with Blushbox CLTV in 2016 at Lyst Game Jam. The game is inspired by the short story Bridesicle by Will McIntosh which I first read while studying literature at university.
In the game you play a desperate dater, paying a visit to the Romance Revival Centre. At the Centre you may choose from a list of the deceased and revive them to have a date and see if they might be a match for you. If your date goes well you might consider paying to revive them permanently.
The game play is tamagotchi-like, awaken your date and spend time with them to see if you’re a match. The game explores themes of power, control, love and desperation. For the player it brings up questions of consent, boundaries and ethics when another’s life is in your hands.
Date the dead! A mini game brought to you by Blushbox Collective.
